OKCL is entrusted with the Training & capacity building program for 8000 SHG Master Book Keepers (MBKs), on Basic IT literacy, Basic Accounting & e-Governance Awareness through OCAC.
Training and Capacity Building Program of SHG Master Book Keepers (MBKs) on ‘Basic IT literacy, Basic Accounting & e-Governance Awareness’, aims to deliver comprehensive training and capacity building to 8000 Self-Help Group (SHG) Master Book Keepers (MBKs) across all 30 districts of State of Odisha.
The training program has been developed in alignment with the syllabus specified by the Department of Mission Shakti, ensuring that it addresses the specific needs and requirements of the SHG Master Book Keepers. The primary goal of the training programme is to equip the MBKs with essential skills in IT literacy, accounting, and e-Governance awareness, empowering them to excel in their roles and contribute effectively to the Mission Shakti’s objectives.
OKCL is a Single Point of Contact (SPOC) designated for coordination and oversight of the activities, being responsible for the initiation, on-ground implementation, and monitoring of the effective implementation of the training activities. OKCL is further authorized to Coordinate with Department of Mission Shakti, and provide monitoring support also to carry out District level coordination with Mission Shakti officials for smooth implementation and proper monitoring and supervision of the training programme.
Upon completion of the training, participants will receive certificates recognizing their achievements in computer literacy and digital skills.

- Infrastructure Challenge: Ensuring the availability of adequate infrastructure, such as classrooms and computer labs, in all selected learning centers.
- Varying Skill Levels: Participants may have varying levels of familiarity with IT, accounting, and e-Governance. Designing a program that caters to diverse skill levels was challenging.
- Adaptation to Local Contexts: Tailoring the training content to be relevant to the local contexts of different districts, taking into account regional variations in economic activities and governance structures.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Effectively monitoring the progress of the training program across 30 districts and ensuring uniformity in the quality of training might pose challenges.
- Enhanced IT Literacy: SHG Master Book Keepers will gain a foundational understanding of information technology, including basic computer concepts, internet usage, email communication, and basic cyber security, etc.
- Enhanced Communication and Collaboration: IT literacy can improve communication and collaboration among the SHG Master Book Keepers, as well as with the outside world. They can use email, messaging apps, and social media for communication, networking, and collaboration with other SHGs, organizations, or potential customers or clients.
- Enhanced Accounting Knowledge: SHG Master Book Keepers will be able to leverage their newly acquired accounting knowledge to carry out their day-to-day activities of SHGs.
- Increased access to e-Governance Services: SHG Master Book Keepers will be aware and be able to access and use various e-Governance services as appropriate to SHGs
The course offered four smart skills that improved our capabilities and boosted confidence by providing various practical modules.
This program significantly enhanced employability, self-employability, digital freelancing, and physical freelancing. It encouraged us on how to earn while learning, providing valuable insights into a holistic approach to skill development.
