Project Overview
Technology is transforming the way we learn, work and solve problems. To prepare young learners for this rapidly evolving digital world, the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), Technical Directorate to the Electronics & IT Department, Government of Odisha, in collaboration with Odisha Knowledge Corporation Limited (OKCL), implemented the Training Camps on Emerging Technologies Across Odisha.
The initiative was designed to bring emerging technologies closer to high school students through interactive learning, live demonstrations and hands-on experiences.
Taking Technology to Students Across Odisha
The programme was designed to reach 100 schools across all 30 districts of Odisha, with training focused on students from Classes VIII to XII. The original programme targeted 12,000 students, with a subsequent extension of the initiative to an additional 6,000 students across 50 schools.
Three Technologies, One Future-Ready Vision
The camps focused on three pillar domains essential for preparing high school students for the future digital workforce:
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The AI Discovery Camp introduced students to AI and its applications in education and everyday life. Students explored AI-powered tools for learning, content creation, problem-solving, translation and creativity, along with discussions on responsible and ethical use of AI.
IoT & Robotics
The IoT & Robotics Innovation Camp provided students with exposure to sensors, microcontrollers, smart devices, robotics kits, drones and automation. Through demonstrations and practical activities, students experienced how technology can be applied in smart homes, healthcare, agriculture and industry.
Cybersecurity
The Cybersecurity Awareness Camp focused on developing safe and responsible digital habits. Students learned about password security, phishing, social engineering, online scams, privacy, malware, deepfakes and basic ethical hacking concepts.
Learning by Seeing, Doing and Exploring
A key feature of the programme was its hands-on and experiential learning approach. Instead of relying only on classroom presentations, students interacted with technology through live demonstrations, practical exercises, videos, case studies and group activities.
From operating robotics components and sensors to exploring AI tools and understanding cybersecurity threats, the camps encouraged students to move from simply asking “What is this technology?” to “What can I create with it?”
A Structured Statewide Implementation
A detailed pre-camp and camp-day framework was developed to ensure consistency across participating schools. It covered school coordination, infrastructure readiness, trainer preparation, equipment delivery, student mobilisation, training delivery, feedback, certification and documentation.
Qualified trainers, coordinators and support teams worked with schools to deliver the programme effectively and create an engaging environment for students.
Building Odisha’s Future-Ready Generation
The programme was more than a technology awareness initiative. It was an effort to spark curiosity, encourage innovation and build confidence among young learners.
By bringing AI, IoT, Robotics and Cybersecurity directly into schools, the initiative helped students discover new possibilities and understand emerging career pathways.
The future is emerging—and Odisha’s students are ready to explore it.

Challenges & Learnings
Implementing a statewide technology programme across multiple schools and districts required strong coordination and careful planning. Key challenges included internet connectivity, power backup, equipment transportation, school coordination and maintaining consistency in training delivery.
Managing large student groups, ensuring hands-on participation, and completing documentation, feedback and media activities within timelines also required coordinated efforts from trainers, coordinators, school authorities and support teams.
Key Learnings
The project demonstrated that successful technology outreach requires thorough preparation, trained teams, strong school-level coordination, reliable infrastructure and a standardized implementation framework.
